Byron Young, MD is passionate about being impactful in under-resourced and marginalized communities, particularly communities of color. Dr. Young is a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist as well as an emotional wellness education developer and consultant. He works primarily as a supervising psychiatrist with ThriveNYC's Mental Health Service Corps, where he is involved in collaborative care medicine, consulting with primary care physicians and psychotherapists. He also works part time at Children of Promise NYC serving as an outpatient psychiatrist working with children and families with incarcerated caregivers.
Dr. Young is also quite involved in community mental health focusing on the intersection of mental health, social justice/ racial justice and the arts. Under the moniker DoingItWell, he develops and consults on creative, enjoyable and impactful programs and initiatives to serve as tools for the improved emotional wellness of communities with a focus on empowering communities and helping people help themselves. Dr. Young has worked on program development for various organizations like FOKUS, The Youth Opportunity Hub of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, Google’s Code Next program and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
